WX Smart Desktop

Since its latest versions, Windows has a modern and sleek design, but sometimes it may not be enough for your particular needs. WX Smart Desktop can make your work environment completely different. Its aim is to streamline your work, by placing all the basic tools you need, from a file browser to small indicators or navigation options, right in front of you on a new desktop.

WX Smart Desktop is free to try, but without any functionality restrictions. It takes a single click and a bit of patience to install the software. It is compatible with all modern Windows platforms and you can use it on both 32 and 64-bit operating systems.

When launched, the software will take a few seconds to load the new desktop and to apply a few settings. The new work environment is predominantly red, but you may change the background image and colors if you want to. The choice of colors and the high-tech look of the desktop will definitely spark your interest.

Besides looking different, WX Smart Desktop works differently as well. The first thing you will notice is that it replaces the task bar. It may take some time to familiarize yourself with the new task bar, but you will find it easier to access common locations and programs. You can also find various indicators, in the lower right region of the screen, for Num or Caps Lock, for the current CPU and memory usage and more.

Another advantage is that WX Smart Desktop provides easier access to your files. The icons you have on the original desktop are displayed in a list directly on the new desktop, along with other icons from "My Computer." You can double click any icon to navigate, just like in Windows Explorer, but the interesting part is that you can navigate through your files and folders directly on the desktop, without opening any windows. When you select a file or folder, its basic characteristics will be displayed in a column, on the left side of the screen, where you can also preview images and much more.
